Google Redesigned is a Mozilla Firefox extension designed by Globex Designs that aims to fully redesign the look and feel of popular Google services. This is achieved with Cascading StyleSheet (CSS) files which are loaded on the client’s browser. The extension simplifies the use of these styles by providing auto-updates, easy management and notifications of changes. You can also download and use the styles individually by going to their respective pages.

December 29th, 2009

http://browser.mgeek.mobi developer’s page, Dolphin Browser

I have included a link to the developer’s page for you to watch a couple quick videos about the new Dolphin Browser.  There are themes and also a bar code for the download on the developer homepage.  It looks kind of like a firefox browser (even the icon) and has the “pinch zoom” feature that is similar to iphone/touch.  I encourage you to try it out!

Other Applications I find very useful: (found in the Android Marketplace)

  • Smobile Systems Security Shield (antivirus & malware protection)
  • MyBackup Pro (backup apps and settings)
  • BeyondPod (rss and podcast app)
  • WpToGo (WordPress To Go!)
  • Paypal mobile (send money FAST to Paypal users)
  • Whitepages (white and yellow pages)

Motorola Droid problems – multiple or duplicate facebook icons/links

December 29th, 2009

When I first bought my phone about a month ago, I synced my Droid with my facebook. I chose the option to sync only facebook friends already in my contacts on my Droid. Then, a couple of weeks ago, before the operating system update, I re-ran the sync and chose to syn ALL friends to all contacts in my facebook. Well this caused duplicate facebook links inside the contacts in my Droid. Duplicate links, multiple links, icons, or whatever terminology you want to call it, or, aka CLUTTER. They all worked and linked correctly but it just looked crummy/sloppy.
So, I called Verizon wireless Droid support. No luck, they did not have a solution, but then came the operating system upgrade for the Droid, from 2.0 to 2.0.1. So, afterwhich, I removed/deleted the facebook sync. Then, I left my phone alone, still running, for a couple hours and performed a battery pull. Then after 5 minutes, I put in my battery, restarted my phone, and re-established the facebook sync. It worked! No more duplicate links or icons inside each contact!

See if this helps. Give feedback. I will follow up with Verizon and have them document what happened to me.

Good luck! Happy Droid’ing!

Scentsy – Wickless Scents, NO candles!

December 27th, 2009

Here’s an idea that might help reduce the chance for burning down your house.  If you don’t blow out your candles or tea lights you have a chance for fire.

How is the wax warmed?
Scentsy’s beautiful ceramic warmers house a low-watt light bulb that slowly melts the Scentsy Bar or Scentsy Brick, filling your home with one of more than 80 unique, long-lasting scents.”

The Motorola Droid – running OS Android 2.0 (aka Eclair)

November 16th, 2009

The Motorola Droid is here!  Operating System Eclair (Android 2.0)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_%28operating_system%29

I used to wish I could buy an iPhone and use it on the Verizon network. Not anymore. Now that I own the Droid, I’m not giving it up.

Touch screen, 2 virtual keyboards, 1 real qwerty keyboard, open source software development, the android marketplace, instant messaging, text messaging, mms, sms, a 3G Motorola cell phone with a 16 mb removable sd card, removable lithium battery, on screen zoom, Google syncronization of contacts and calander, multitasking, internet browsing, headphone jack, bluetooth, gps with Google navigation, cutomizable ringtones with vibrate, silent mode, games, incredile screen resolution, 5MB camera, video camera…well I can’t think of anymore but I will add them later.

Right now I am learning how to post from my portable application called wptogo. This application is written to be compatible with Eclaire 2.0 on my Motorola Droid phone. So far it is working flawlessly and if you use WordPress I think you will be happy with it. It is not a complicated application, it has few, not many functions, and it does the job…posts text!

One big plus I want to point out is that the voice activated navigation feature is awesome. Say…navigate to walmart, anyville, state and it will popup with multiple locations and you just click, and then it will immediately find the route by gps, then gives turn by turn directions by GOOGLE maps. LOVE IT!

If you have any questions how to setup wptogo you can contact the developer on his site. But I haven’t had any problems with my setup or using it on the Verizon network so far. Any feedback on this topic I encourage and I will forward to the developer.

Blog posts: Honest advice or paid to entice? – Peoria, IL – pjstar.com

June 22nd, 2009

Watch out bloggers!  The federal goverment agency called the FTC will be scrutinizing your posts soon!

Any type of blog could be scrutinized, not just ones that specialize in reviews.

But they would need to think twice if, for instance, they praise parenting books they’ve just read and include links to buy them at a retailer like Amazon.com Inc.

So parents keeping blogs to update family members on their child’s first steps technically would fall under the FTC guidelines, though they likely would have little to worry about unless they accept payments or free products and write about them.

How to find college scholarships

May 18th, 2009

Reference:  CNN MONEY SITE

http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/06/pf/college_scholarships/index.htm?postversion=2009040610

There are three ways to find college scholarships.

  1. One is a good free Internet service.
  2. The second is to look locally.
  3. And the third is through your college.

The List:

  • Fastweb.com
  • Petersons
  • Talk with your guidance counselor
  • Talk with the places that the student or the parent work
  • Look at organizations like Rotary and Kiwanis
  • Religious organizations – your mosque, your synagogue, your church.

The Gospel

ROMANS 5:18 NLT
18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.

Gospel means good news. It was not originally a religious word, but meant good news which makes people happy and excited.

If what you have heard about Jesus Christ does not make you happy and excited, then you have not yet truly heard and understood the Gospel as it is meant to be understood.

The basic outline is that Jesus of Nazareth, who was God in a human body, took your place in judgment, paying the penalty for all your sins, and gave you the blessing He deserved because of His perfect sinless life.

God, the Creator, and Sustainer of the universe, loves you enough to die for you. That’s good news!

Jesus took what you deserved, and gave you what He deserved! That’s good news!

And this is not limited to just you. Jesus died for all mankind. Deliverance from sin, its effects and penalty is available to anyone and everyone who will believe and receive Jesus Christ as Lord.

ROMANS 1:16 NLT
16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes — the Jew first and also the Gentile.

God is on your side — not against you. That’s good news!

If you do not get so excited you can hardly contain your excitement, you have not fully understood the Gospel.

2 CORINTHIANS 4:4 NLT
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

If you can keep yourself from telling others about Jesus, you have not yet understood the Gospel.

SAY THIS: The Gospel of Jesus Christ is GREAT news!

Gamer’s Choice Inc. – a testimonial

April 19th, 2009

http://www.gamerschoiceinc.net

“Gamer’s Choice was established April 26th 2008 to give every gamer a choice.”

You DO have a choice!  MY choice is Gamer’s Choice!

My Experience:  I have never been able to get a good exchange on games at Gamestop.  Well, this time I was able to trade ALL of my used games and movies, and have an in-store credit applied.  Then after I traded my used PSP,  PSP movies, and PSP games, I only needed about  100 dollars more to have enough to get a brand new Xbox 360.  So, I purchased the arcade version (200 dollars) PLUS the 60 gb hard drive combo(100 dollars) which includes a headset, and 3 months of gold Xbox Live.    This turns out to be a better deal than the PRO edition Xbox which sells for about the same…300 dollars.   So, you get more for your money when you get them this way!  How did I learn about this way to get more for your dollar?  The OWNER of Gamer’s Choice, of course! (Dan)

Pros:  (in my opinion)

  • way better trade-in values than Gamestop!
  • in-store credit…you can also add to the in-store credit with cash, then make your purchase later.
  • great customer service-  curteous, and quick
  • knowledgable – owner actually is knowledgable about systems and games!
  • Gamer’s Choice didn’t pick over my games and videos like at Gamestop and only want to buy certain ones.
  • Membership  Perks —>  http://www.gamerschoiceinc.net/47801/index.html
  • Try a game “before you buy”  (in the store)
  • Plenty of used games to select from

Cons:

  • not as big of a selection of new games as the box stores like Gamestop
  • did not have a game system in stock to purchase “on the spot”

Overall Impression:

  • DEFINITELY worth your while to shop there for a new system, games, and rentals.  Good prices and selection.
  • Even though they did not have a system in stock, it was Saturday, and on Monday they were available!  He was simply sold out at the moment.  Also, having a huge overstock of new games is expensive and I would expect overkill.
  • I purchased the membership with plans for renting games there which seem to match or beat Family Video rates for 5 days.   I received a $20 dollar in-store credit*  because I purchased the membership, and was trading in such a large amount of games.  (*this was a one-time bonus, and only occured during this current promo period, this bonus varies according to local specials/promos ONLY)
  • Not as fancy/decorations as Gamestop inside, but, trade-ins values, in-store accounts, and service exceeds anything that Gamestop offers.
  • Try before you buy is an excellent bonus
  • Rent-to-own option – say after a week of renting, you want to apply what you have already paid in rental to the purchase price of a game…you CAN do that!

At GAMER’S CHOICE…where every player DOES have a choice!

:)
